Pool Stage
Hardcore indeed! Superstars..? You’re damn right!
All the best parts of rock, metal, punk, and thrash thrown together to form a fuck-it-all, party-til-you-puke band. I liked them right away.
Hardcore Superstar are:
Joakim “Jocke” Berg – vocals, Vic Zino – guitars, Martin Sandvik – bass, Magnus “Adde” Andreasson – drums
Another high octane performance from the Swedish contingency. Hardcore Superstar are a band that should definitely be scheduled towards the end of a cruise, because following them would not be the easiest of tasks.
Sets full of sing-along anthems had the packed pool deck screaming the lyrics to songs like “You Can’t Kill My Rock ‘N Roll” and “We Don’t Celebrate Sundays“.
The stage seems to be more of a suggestion than a rule for these Swedish singers. If you’re a photographer (or a member of security) the space between the stage and the speakers becomes a danger zone, because Jocke loves jumping across the pit at random to get up close and personal with the fans. it’s hard not to get caught up in the frenzy that they create.
Also of note: I love that the Swedish fans stake out their spaces on the Pool deck and usually remain there for the entirety of the cruise. And as soon as one of their own is about to take the stage, up go the flags. Other bands would be so lucky to have that much devotion and loyalty from their fans.
HCSS were also one of the few bands to mix up their setlist for their two shows.
Set 1
Set 2
I had heard the hype from a lot of people about HCSS and their performance was one that definitely lived up to the VERY high expectations.
They are as advertised: Hardcore and Superstars.
