The 5th Annual Ride For Ronnie In Support of The Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund

Los Encinos Historic Park, Encino, CA – 5/5/19

Part I

The 5th Annual Ride For Ronnie Motorcycle Ride And Concert took place on Sunday at Los Encinos Historic Park. This year’s bands included Eddie Trunk’s All-Stars (with a surprise appearance from Encino neighbor, Dave Grohl), Petty Cash, Bulletboys, DC4, Budderside, DIA and Sadie And The Tribe.

The end of the motorcycle ride from Harley Davidson in Glendale coincided with the start of the bands as the rumble of engines arrived just as Sadie and the Tribe kicked off the concert in the park.

Wendy Dio led the way as the bikes made their way to the park. She was surrounded by a bevy of bikers including, Sean McNabb (Lynch Mob, Sons Of Anarchy), Star Fields (Mayans, MC) and Dr. Sandeep Kapoor (The Dr. who treated Ronnie)

The perimeter of the park was adorned with booths selling Merch, Food, Booze and Knick Knacks

Some booths, like Al Bane For Leather, attracted the interest of some of the local attendees.

As always, a day out in the park attracts all sorts of spectators.

The event was again hosted by friend to Ronnie and Wendy, DJ Eddie Trunk.

After DIA’s set, Wendy took to the stage to introduce a few people near and dear to her and Ronnie.

Oliver Shokouh, owener of Harley Davidson of Glendale, who has hosted the start of the Annual Ride each year.

As well as providing a great reminder of the legacy and spirit of Ronnie James Dio, The Annual Ride For Ronnie allows an update on the progress of the of cancer via Dr’s David Wong (Director for UCLA Center for Oral/Head & Neck Oncology Research) and Sandeep Kapoor. They both spoke on the importance of frequent testing and Dr Wong provided another update on the current trials that are taking place as well as announcing another 5 year grant that was just obtained which will be put towards continued cancer prevention research.

Budderside

Budderside are: Patrick Stone (vocals), Sam Bam Koltun (guitar), Logan Nikolic (guitar), Stoneman (bass), Rich Sacco (drums)

In between bands, Eddie Trunk and Adam Parsons would take time to hold a live auction for some great pieces, including a RJD handmade, leather guitar strap from Al Bane, a couple of pictures and a RJD “Cut”.
