The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. Not just a (hilarious) movie by Nic Cage, but an accurate description of the level of musical genius that adorned the SoundCheck Live Stage last Wednesday evening. Not all of the people listed above would be known as household names. But when you start compiling a list of the songs they’ve written, the albums they’ve played on, and the artists they’ve worked with, you’ll start to get an idea of the expertise that these musicians have contributed to the music industry.
Guest Curator, Jason Scheff (the former long-time vocalist of Chicago) brought along a bunch of his friends that included:Drummer, Steve Ferrone (Average White Band, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers and a LOT MORE); keyboardist, Steve Percaro (Founding member of Toto, wrote the Michael Jackson hit, “Human Nature”, composed music for the series “Justified and a LOT MORE) as well as guitarist, Errol Cooney (Stevie Wonder, Janet Jackson and a LOT MORE). You get the idea.
On top of hearing hand picked selections from the careers of the above mentioned musicians, a packed, pre-Thanksgiving, Lucky Strike crowd got to hear local spotlight opener Mark Mackay and band kick-off the festivities as well as some of the most talented individuals on the scene today. Check out the list of performers, their credits and remember, the whole show is unrehearsed and live without a net.
