The 2019 Rock Against MS Benefit/Tribute Concert

The Palace Theater – Los Angeles, CA – 3/30/19

Rock Against MS Founder, Nancy B. Sayle with Host, Hal Sparks

Saturday evening saw the 7th Annual Rock Against MS Benefit Concert at the Palace Theater in Los Angeles.  Each year event organizer Nancy Sayle (Who was diagnosed with Primary Progressive MS in 2009) calls upon her music industry friends to donate their time and efforts to put on this amazing benefit show.

This year’s show had a goal to raise enough money to build the “first ever Rock House which will be a place where those whose lives are affected by MS can receive quality of life care ranging from therapy to a haircut.”

The event has grown and grown and this year saw a record crowd attending the event which was headlined by Marky Ramone’s Blitkrieg!

This year the event started with Orange Carpet arrivals; a silent auction that included items such as a signed guitar from Steve Vai,which all led to the Tribute Concert honoring legendary musicians that we recently lost.  Including: Vinnie Paul (Pantera, Hell Yeah), The Queen Of Soul, Aretha Franklin, Pat Torpey (Mr. Big), Legendary Elvis Drummer, DJ Fontana, The Blues Brothers Matt “Guitar” Murphy, Temptations singer, Dennis Edwards, Motorhead’s “Fast” Eddie Clarke, Soul Singer, Yvonne Staples, Bay City Rollers Bassist, Alan Longmuir, Dolores O’Riordan (The Cranberries) and Ed King (Lynyrd Skynyrd).

As Nancy has done in the past, she handed out the (Richard) Pryor’s Platinum People Awards (named after the great comedian who succumbed to MS) to some of the people who freely give of their time and talents whenever Nancy needs them.  Among the recipients this year were Ace Von Johnson (LA Guns), Michael Devin (Whitesnake), Marq Torien (Bulletboys), Ira Black (I Am Morbid), Solo artists, Lisa Margaroli and Lisa Foreman

The Concert

The concert was hosted by Hal Sparks and Debra Wilson who did a fine job of hammering home the point that the race to find a cure for MS is going to start with raising awareness.
