On November 13, as Angelinos braced for a few days of rain, the 2025 Bowl For Ronnie event was back at Pinz in Studio city, CA.
The sold out evening celebrated the life and legacy of Ronnie James Dio while raising money and awareness for cancer research. The event orchestrated by Wendy Dio and the Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund was once again a great success.
The evening started as usual by a succession of celebrities on the red carpet (Full Photo Gallery below). A real life who’s who of heavy metal and entertainment. This year’s participants included some of the usual suspects and a few new faces. Amongst others: Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath), Shavo Odadjian (System Of A Down), George Thorogood, Sebastian Bach, Adam Jones (Tool), Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme), Kenny Aronoff, Bobby Brown, Macy Gray…
All eyes were on Wendy whose smile illuminated the red carpet and host Eddie Trunk who manages to bring in more people each year and guarantee the event’s success. Then it was time for the high profile celebrities to mix and mingle with the crowd on the bowling lanes.
After a brief speech by Eddie and Wendy to thank all the attendees, a check in the amount of $25,000 was presented to Dr. David Wong for his UCLA Cancer Research Center.
Bowlers were invited to start competing, while non-bowlers could hang out and get selfies with their favorite musicians. Attendees could purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win prizes or hit the Dio merch booth.
