Heaven Below – Skinny’s – N. Hollywood, CA – 11/7/18

Teresa Schachtel was On Scene and Heard…

Wednesday night at Skinny’s, North Hollywood’s metal rock spot, was anything but typical this week! A packed venue was ablast as local band, Heaven Below, dominated the stage almost proving that any stage is too small for their monster sound.

With Patrick Kennison (Lita Ford, Union Underground) on guitar and vocals, the vibe was stellar. Then… here comes new addition, Nikki Stringfield (Iron Maidens, Femme Fatale) into the mix. And, may I say, here lies a sweet spot of honey dripping onto the guitar rock gods! John Younger on bass and Shad Wilhelm on drums master the rhythm and bang and truly make me look forward to Heaven Below’s new album, “Rest In Pieces” which will be out this winter.

Rest In Pieces,” an album tribute to the departed will put Heaven Below’s full bodied mastery on songs such as Queen’s “We Will Rock You“, Audioslave’s “Like A Stone,” Johnny Cash’s “Ain’t No Grave,” and many more hits. Slated for their Texas Apocalypse Tour in November, Heaven Below will slay Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio. The show at Skinny’s wouldn’t have been complete without the amazing organizational and musical talents of D.J. Skum Love, who booked the show with Corners of Sanctuary, A Mirror Hollow, and SkumLove. One of the things that made this show stand out to me was hostess, Jes Fama. Call me old school, but I thoroughly enjoy a professional stage and talk hostess introducing the bands, giving some background on the members, and divulging new and exciting ventures of the bands to the audience! I’ve seen Heaven Below several times and they never cease to consistently bring a great performance, musicianship, and showmanship to the stage.  If you have the opportunity, don’t miss this band!
