Ozzfest Meets Knotfest is more than a music festival…
It’s a gathering of Metal Heads, uniting in an environment where often times it’s the only avenue for them to be them real selves. There’s no judging eyes from school mates or co-workers. It’s a place where you can let your hair down and let your freak flag fly.
Dress up or dress down, or in some instances, barely dress at all. The crowd ranged from scary to sexy and everything in between.
They moshed, slam danced, crowd surfed, screamed & yelled; all within the friendly confines of the Metal Community.
I saw very few altercations. I saw mosh pits form, I saw people hit the deck.. HARD…and I saw them being lifted up and encouraged with a pat on the back.
The security at Ozzfest Meets Knotfest were firm, but they also weren’t aggressive. They helped crowd surfers down and let them run back to the pack to join the fray. They interacted with fans and did what they were meant to do: Keep everyone safe and secure.
And yes… there was music…and it was good… but none of it happens without all the people who see this as more than a bunch of bands, they see it as a lifestyle.
And… There was a dog.
